Knitting 2014

This year our knitters decided to knit squares again and donate a blanket to each of the two classes in our special unit “Nead na Coille” for children with a diagnosis of autism for use in their “quiet corners”. It was also brought to our notice that “The Girls’ Club”, a group set up to support women receiving chemotherapy were calling on knitters to donate blankets. This treatment can take several hours at times and it can get quite cold. Our knitters made up four blankets in all and one cushion, and donated two to The Girls’Club, we hope whoever gets them will enjoy having them. We are very grateful again this year to our tutors who give up their time each Friday for six or seven weeks to help the children to master the art of knitting. Our thanks to Kitty, Agnes, Elmarie, Anne, Rose and Joan.

Below is a photo of our blankets and one of Carolyn and Val from The Girls’ Club receiving the donated blankets.
